NCM Recognized by Industry for Excellence in Construction

NCM HONORED WITH INDUSTRY AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION

Receives Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington (ABC) 2012 Excellence in Construction Award

(April 17, 2012) Snoqualmie, Washington  -- NCM, the nation’s premier demolition and remediation service provider, announced today that the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington (ABC) awarded the company’s Washington State branch a 2012 Excellence in Construction Award. The ABC, an organization that promotes safe, quality, and sustainable construction, honored NCM Contracting Group, LP in the Demolition category for its work on the Washington State University (WSU) Martin Stadium Renovation. This award is given out for superior work in all aspects of a project.

“We are greatly honored by ABC’s selection of us for a 2012 Excellence in Construction Award. It is a testament to our Washington State NCM employees and crews, who ensure that each project receives the absolute finest workmanship and care in the industry,” said Bryan DiLoreto, Senior Vice President

As part of an $80 million project, NCM completed two precision demolition components on Martin Stadium using advanced technical skills to maintain the structural integrity of several other nearby WSU buildings. The job site was in close proximity to critical campus facilities, including the IT building that supports the university’s entire network, and on top of which was located the plaza level of the demolition work.

The most unique aspect of the project was the height of precision required to remove the press box while leaving its existing foundational podium intact. NCM crews began the project by removing lighting structures and steadily worked their way through the shell and down to the structural frame of the building. Cranes worked in concert with steel cutting teams to systemically remove material layer by layer. Included in the demolition was the removal of the stadium’s precast seating, structural beams, columns and concrete footings. Once NCM completed demolition, construction crews began work on the premium press box seating and other renovations.

Due to the highly methodical manner in which NCM operates, the company was able to ensure that all recyclable material was diverted from landfill to the proper facilities in concordance with LEED goals. As a result, NCM recycled nearly 118 tons of steel, including rebar and Red Iron Steel, and 246 tons of concrete.

In addition to this project, NCM was also recognized as a supporting team member on two other ABC 2012 Excellence in Construction Award projects – the PACCAR IMAX Theater Renovation and the Bethany Presbyterian Church Seismic Retrofit, both led by the Rafn Company.

Earlier this year, NCM was named one of the nation’s 35 safest construction companies by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). The AGC honored NCM with its 2011 Construction Safety Excellence Award for its commitment to safety training and education, as well as overall strong safety record.
