Timely Management
In addition to annual inspections, it is the owner’s continuing responsibility to ensure that a tank is not leaking, and, if it is, to see that the tank is retrofitted, replaced, or closed without a contaminating product remaining. Warning signs that call for immediate action include the following: Fuel use is higher than normal; tank is taking on water (more than 1/2-inch in 12 hours); oil sheen appears in nearby stream or ditches; vegetation on down-side of tank appears damaged; and visible sign of spill around fill pipe or vent pipe. Owners must also accomplish timely upgrades or replacements in order to comply with environmental regulations.Expert Service
